Considering the new technology of water heating, where the vapour condensation would destroy the existing chimney, there were two ways of solving the customer's problem: by manufacturing a new chimney or replacing the existing flue liner with a stainless steel spool. The two-year-long procedure of acquiring a building permit would be too long, so the replacement of the flue liner was the only acceptable option. Our work inside the chimney involved three problems: the hazard of combustion, the weather (winds above 20 km/h, - 8° C and under, rain) and a short deadline for replacing the flue liner (8 days).

We designed and manufactured the segments of the new flue liner from stainless steel – inox (l = 75 m, o = 1.56 m). With an innovative approach, we overcame all of the challenges of working at heights and inside the chimney, the disassembly and transport of the old flue liner and the fitting of the new chimney liner. Our work was safe and effective owing to the special equipment and tools of our own design, which we also had to have certified.

Owing to our careful preparation, accurate manufacture of the liner and computer simulation, the replacement of the flue liner was technically flawless. We managed to complete the work within the agreed 8 days. The customer's savings were twofold. Firstly, utilising flue gases to heat water through the new technology. Secondly, through the short time of project implementation, enabled by our innovative approach to the project. Building a chimney would have been a significantly more expensive and time-consuming project (app. 2 years). In our case, we were only obliged to report maintenance work.
